introduction: the internet has quickly become a major player in the quest for information. researchers readily employ the internet as a tool for information retrieval because it can provide fast access to vast amounts of information from a multitude of sources. the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of the internet in locating information in najaf abad azad university. methods: it is a survey study in which data were collected by a questionnaire and were analyzed by spss using descriptive statistics. results: it was revealed that the participants used the internet at an optimum level to update their knowledge about their research interests. in this regard, they employed data banks most commonly. conclusion: internet plays a significant role for researchers to locate information so that they use it for compiling and translating books, writing research proposals doing theses.
